Just bought a JCS900-2AE off eBay. Ive read the instructions like 5 times plus watched the few videos on youtube but no luck yet. does any one know how to change the decimal from 5 to 4 places? i tried both the ENT and the S button on start up but not place to change it. In the videos they all scroll numbers on start up. mine doesn't, it goes straight to linear 5. can't find any thing called ( inch dot). thanks in advance

I ignore the 5th digit. The Chinese scales are metric, and the display does Metric to inches conversion. The 5th digit is largely worthless, except for cool factor. If you have 5 micron scales, the display will only be accurate to (about) 2/10ths of 1/1000th of an inch.

If all else fails, you can try doing what I've done on both my DROs. Tape a piece of colored plastic sheet over the last 2 digits, so they're less distracting. I used some color-coded plastic shim stock I had on hand.

Did you set the scale resolution to 5 micron, I did look at the manual and did not see any mention of setting the number of decimal places. A 1 micron setting will show 5 decimal places, 5 micron 4, but who knows.

Both of my DROs use 5 micron scales, but seem to default to 5 decimal places. Of course, the scales are metric, and the DRO has to apply a fudge factor to get inch results. 5 microns is 0.0001969, so the scales alternately increment in 0.00019" and 0.00020" intervals. I suppose if I had 1 micron scales, the increment would vary between 0.00004" and 0.00005".

Now-a-days , I disregard anything following the decimal point ! :big grin: Normal tolerance is + or - half a hoe handle .
