1/6th scale 1890's 30ft navy steam cutter (live steam)

I made a quick box fitted to the size of the stock that was going in.. one concern was white oak (and other oaks) react with iron and other metals,, the wood turns black.. I had the pvc parts on hand along with a few brass fittings (there is a vent valve on the other end) and the insulation.. steam supply is a wagner wallpaper steamer, gives a little more the 2 hours of steam per fill..

getting the "skeleton" of this beast together,, things seem to be all fitting quite well!! my model builders 1/3scale workbench is working very nice..

aft frames roughed in, two frame to made on the bow end,, my new toy to replace the one I dropped last week!!!

hull framework has been faired, templates and billets for the sheer planks done.. planking to start monday!!!

bending the white oak sheer planks,, a good hot hot water soak, help for the custom heated "bending iron" and lots of clamps..

I am curious about how are you attaching the planks to the ribs?
 
looked at planking with scale hardware, but the fasteners would have down past the size of common pins!!! and thousands of them would have required.. plus the standard of navy finish at that time was every fastener was set and filled and flushed.. you don't even see plank lines in the period photos.. sheer planks fitted on one side,, you can start seeing her lines taking shape..
