what on earth is a "mosfets"?

I know they are great lathes but did they have to make them so darned complicated?

Now we just replace all that stuff with a VFD. One component. Simple. Like any black box.

They were the latest and greatest thing for power electronics until about a decade ago when IGBTs (insulated gate bipolar junction transistors) became the hottest new technology for power electronics like welders and VFDs.
