I am starting to have a issue with the apron feed.
I don’t know which gear(s) needs to be replaced,
the rack pinion gear engages the rack but what drives the gear is lose
lots of slop
I almost have to hold pressure on the hand wheel
I a not sure what t do , I have removed the apron but didn’t see anything

Are the bearings in good shape? Can you post some photos?
Chuck

Is the apron well tightened to the saddle? I had the same issue after reassembly and the bolts were just loose.

image.jpgI found that I need 4 gears

Apron cross feed worm gear
hand wheel pinion gear
rack and pinion gears

Good chance the hand wheel shaft bearing surface is worn excessively. May need to be bored and a bushing installed.
