1917 Machining video Very detailed

We popped out over 10,000 of these rounds on Warner Swasey cnc lathes back in the 90s . I believe the total machine time for the shells was less than 15 minutes . The different fused nose pieces were very time consuming though . The operators never broke a sweat , but the machines were pushing their 50 hp spindle limits ! Have to wonder what is out in the big shops these days as far as large production equipment .

Cool video
John Bertrand and Sons Manufacturing was in Dundas Ontario. They also made lathes and mills .Like most manufacturers in WW2 they switched to war production. The Shop where my brother works still has a big old Bertrand lathe . I think it has a 28-30” chuck.
Cheers
