Thanks to all for your advice. I finished the rebuild and the engine runs and sounds good. I ended up doing nothing with the valve guides and just lapped the old valves to clean them up. The snowblower is on and my fingers are crossed that my work holds up. Thank you all again.

Now that the blower is on ahead of time, hopefully you won't need it.
But then I see that Newfane is right on the lake. . .
