I was using my King 1022 lathe (Grizzly g0602 clone) to turn a home cast pump impeller. I tried the 3 jaw juck with the outside jaws but the part didn't sit right, so I used the 4 jaw. When I put the 3 jaw back on, with the inside jaws, I found the chucked material would not run true. I know the 3 jaw was good before removal so I took it off and cleaned it and the spindle thoroughly and remounted it. Same thing. Took it off again and checked for something inside the chuck. Still nothing and the problem persisted. I was about to regrind it and thought better of it, knowing that it ran true before removal. I take the jaws out and inspect them closely, when I notice a burr on the back side of one of the channels, where it rides on the chuck. I file it off and now it's back to normal. It must have been hit with something when it was removed.

Took me quite a while to figure this one out. Hope it helps someone else in the future.
