4 by 6 horizontal band saw not cutting straight vertically

20 thou in 3" isn't all that bad actually, I doubt if mine is much better

All you can expect from a Chinese saw.

Check for side to side play from the pivot rod to the trunnions on the base. Most of the HF 4x6 saws have a lot of side to side. Grab the tension knob and move it side to side to check the play at the blade. You will most likely see it move a lot. Some of this can be taken up by using a clamp across the body frame and pivot arm to get close to zero gap at the trunnions and washers Then loosen and re tighten the shcps that hold the arm to the top body. I drilled and tapped the trunnions and made 1/4"x 20 brass set screws to force the pivot rod forward and eliminate any play.

I should have searched this subject before. Been wondering why my saw went from close to perfectly square to 1/8" in 3". I bought this saw used, so no instructions. And never used a bandsaw before this one.
Anyhow now I have some good suggestions on how to remedy the problem. Thanks to everyone.
