Looks like the "through" kind (which has bolts through the body of the chuck to secure to the back plate) is the kind of chuck I'll need for my rotary tables. I'm also planning to machine my own backplate for mounting to my dividing head. If anyone has one they would like to sell please let me know. As always, I try to avoid Chinese made stuff. thanks
 
I have a older 6" Cushman 4-jaw chuck that is in decent shape I'll let go of if your interested in it. PM me and I'll get some pictures for you to look at. And it is a bolt thru from the front. In fact, the body is solid so you could drill your own holes where ever you want them. Ken
