I have a set of ER-40 collets and was wondering what the best way to adapt them to a Clausing 5914 lathe might be. The set is in R-8 for my milling machine and they are quite useful.
If you type ER40 collet chuck into Google you'll see lots of options. There are some threads on this site where guys made their own. Or here's an option off Amazon that you'd need to attach to a backing plate. I'd guess your Clausing either has an L00 or 2 1/4" x 8 threaded spindle.
This is ER32, but you get the picture. Leave a little clearance around the hub nose so you can fine adjust by tapping. I also have the 5914 and the collets work good for smaller sized work.
