VN 7 1/2 DIVIDING HEAD

Update. Sorry, I don't know how to edit my post. Only 2 x 47 - 66 remain.

All extra indexing plates are sold now.

Of you can find someone to scan and email you a copy of the disks you are missing you could easily adjust them to proper size, print them then glue them to some plate and use as a pattern. That would make the process a whole lot easier i would think.

Latinrascalrg1 What you suggest in getting a scanned & printed version of an indexing plate is very doable. I would caution that scans & printed documents do have inherent errors introduced in their execution. I was blessed in that my lit'l 7 1/2 came with 1 indexing plate. As it was, I figured at least I know the correct dimensions for thickness, inside, outside, mounting & the diameters of each ring of holes. Had the plates I needed not materialized, I would have preferred to make the missing plates on another dividing head or with a rotary table & printed scans as a backup plan! Use what you have to make what you need right!

I think I came out even on money by selling my extras - but they went where needed. Somehow only the guys charging a whole lot more get the thanks & good reviews. Just don't go with a negative response when you got what you bought - so far so good ....... no reaction at all.

Brockwood:

Thanks for the chart, it seems the version here comes out lower res than the PM version and is not very legible. My 10 VN head and plates are at my shop 1200 miles away and I was messing around with my 3d printer and fusion 360. It seems these are really easy to make in F360 but your chart is missing a couple key measurements for a fresh build. Could you include plate thickness, index holes diameter and 3 set screw shaft diameter and screw head diameter? or post here. I think that's all I need to finish making up a template for a printable version of these plates. I'm particularly interested in VN 10 plates but once I get these done, and tested, I'd be happy to make up the others, especially for VN and other unobtainium styles. I will post finished files in thingiverse and download section of H-M. The plastic plates might be usable as is or as templates for metal.

So, I just guessed on measurements for what I was missing - used 1/8 index holes, screw holes and plate thickness. Looks good in fusion but is going to take a few more hours to finish printing. This is link for 38-46 hole 6" diameter VN plate. www.thingiverse.com/thing:3480377 Most slicers look for mm not inches so, it will need to be scaled 2540% (unless you want a miniature dividing head plate)

I'm at work. I'll get measurements tonight. It's 10-32 screws for the 7 1/2. For the 10, I only recall 1/4 thick & center is the same 1 1/2, but the mount screws are on a bigger diameter.

So here's 1st try. I stopped print at less than half way through. No need for backside or full thickness until little details corrected.

3 - 1/4 x 20 bevel head mount screws for the 10" on a 1.88 dia. Overall diameter matters & is 6". The holes allow a 3/32 pin on the 7 1/2 & a 11/64 pin on the 10.
