I bought one of those digital RPM displays on Amazon.

I got it 90% installed on my HF 7x12 this evening. Took me about 2 hours. It is functional now as the attachments shows but I am going to add a 9 volt battery box that has a switch on it.

I had to solder 8 wires and I'm using a 9 volt battery to power the display. I used my multimeter inside the controller box but I could not find any electrical points that carried 5 to 15 volts DC power. So I decided to use a 9 volt battery. I will finalize the installation by adding the battery box with a switch on it.

It seems to work fine.

Sorry...I made a typo...the DC voltage range to operate the display is 8-15 VDC.

When I wired mine up, I just searched in my "junk electronics" box and found a "Wall Wart" that put out 12v pulsed DC which is fine for this type of application. Look around your house, I'd bet you have one similar laying around from some old toy (battery charger), desk lamp or ???

good luck

Yes, I'm sure I do. I want to see how long the 9v battery lasts. Then I'll probably switch it over to a wall wart.

Thanks...
