Alignment - yay or nay?

Thanks Mikey, I’m new to all this and I’m just making sure my setup is on point and it helps with the learning. Going to try a high speed steel bit next and will feedback.

You got it. HSS for light cuts = very sharp!

It appears your lathe is working well for you, then. Why not join us on the model tools thread and when you can grind a good HSS tool, re-evaluate your lathe with the appropriate tool?
