Another watchmakers lathe

Hi brino
no it doesn’t fit any of them but it does fit perfectly on to the top of the bed.
Also the third picture from the block of three in your post above is the mount and pin for the extra indexing plate it mounts onto the end of the bed and stands upright and has a spring loaded pin with a key way to keep it away from plate when not in use.
And yes when it is all back together I will post pictures, I am back to work tomorrow ( only two days a week ) as I am over retirement age I shouldn’t have much trouble painting it as I repair and paint buses/coaches, it’s a bit smaller than my usual paint jobs.
Just in case anyone on hear needs it in future the colour is machine grey RAL7000 that is the correct colour for Derbyshire lathes.
Thanks Dell

I feel like every machine was painted machine grey lol. I am following bc i also just got a little Derbyshire all decked out with goodies. None of the real expensive ones though.

Hi all hope everyone staying safe and well

i have it all cleaned and painted in 2K ready for rebuilding, but I am unsure what oil to use, with my IME the consensus was to use H32 transmission oil, has anyone any suggestions?

Hi brento
yes for the headstock, got an email from Derbyshire and they say if spindle in good condition then use 100 SSU lubricating oil or if not available use ATF but just googled 100 SSU and all I got was transmission oil, they also said if spindle not perfect just use light way oil, well my spindle is perfect so as I can’t find out what 100 SSU is then I suppose ATF it will have to be , they also said they still make Magnus collets.

Thats cool. Mine comes with all of the collets. Idk any attachments i would want for it. Let me know what you get or send me a picture bc im interested in the same thing.

That looks great Dell!

I can't wait to see it assembled.

Hi all hope everyone staying safe
well the lathe is rebuilt and running fine all cleaned up very well , there was zero wear on the spindle or bearing, I am a membper of the NAWCC so I asked on the forum what was the best oil to use and most said that they used Castrol Hyspin E5 spindle oil ( expensive) but the 250ml should last for years.
very happ.

Thats the type of oil i have been seeing also. Where did you end up getting it? Im having trouble finding it

Most places only selling by the gallon or more but I found someone on eBay selling it in small quantities 250ml ( very expensive ) but 250ml will last me for years but I am in U.K.
lf you do a search on NAWCC clock forum as they are based in USA you may find a local seller, you could also ask a question because I think you can post without registration but registration is free anyway
