I need to remove the saddle. Ive removed the rear gib screws and the 2 on top of the saddle holding on the apron. I see 4 more on the front but blocked my the apron. Must the apron come off. Am i missing anything?

Your 1236T should be a cousin to my Taiwan made 1236. You need to drop the apron to access the front gibs. I used a couple of M8 all threads to slowly separate the apron from the saddle and drop it.

Replace the clamp bolts one at a time with the all thread. Nut the all threads to the saddle, to slowly lower the apron just unwind the nuts.

The rods and the lead screws must be disconnect from both ends. I pulled mine off because I wanted to do some work on the apron.

What front power train?

Just drive the tapered pins holding the tods and screw right by the gear box. Remove the block holding the rods and screw on the other end. The block has a couple of guide pins, they usually stay with the block.

In your case for what you want to do, most likely the rods can stay with the apron

Bamban,
Great idea for supporting/lowering the apron = threaded rod!!
