Any pointers on silver soldering steel to steel and brass to steel?

would brazing rod work as well as silver solder for steel to steel contact? IOW what are the pros and cons of each. I compared price and braze rods seem less expensive. I have mapp and ocyacy btw. Sorry for jumping in.

Just a note of use to those who would use silver solder. Use the right solder and its correct flux
Your supplier- usually welding stuff- will tell you what's for what. Consider the damage from heat.
Often your joint will be strong, but the joined metal weakened. Consider race cars, motorcycles,bicycles,aircraft, and, of course jewelry. Read,watch, learn......BLJHB.
