Ran across a milling vice on ebay for 10 bucks. It's older and distressed, but at ten bucks I couldn't pass it up:

Seller states no maker marks other than "no. 2"" cast in the top surface. Anyone know who the maker might be?

My plan is a full resto and then back into service on my CX600 (same as grizzly G0704).

So, most of it looks to be cosmetic damages, except those drilling divots in the lower ways of the jaws.

It's likely cast iron, so I'm thinking YIG with a nickle rod to fill the divots and then scrape/machine flat. But I'm uncertain if that would warp the casting.

It looks to have been used in a woodworking environment (sawdust packed in everywhere) so that should clean up easily.

Divots in the top surfaces can be a simple fill and level job with epoxy, body-fill, etc.

Any thoughts on those divots in the ways? I mean constructive thoughts.....;)

Looks kind of awkward to fasten it down, I don't see any "ears"- you'll have to be creative to figure something out
Maybe make a base plate?

There are four counter bored holes for mounting.
Scrub it up and use it I have seen and used much worse vices than that.
Will it ever look new? I guess if you want to put the time in it....
