Atlas lathe micrometer carriage stop

We have a ton of CL adds that have been running for months that are just ridiculous. The items look like they were dug up in some field and they attach the "Vintage" label and ask people to pay them good money. From the number of ads, these people must spend a good portion of their day re-posting them.
Agree; I check craigslist daily and have seen some items at prices which will never sell.

The great thing about craigslist it it costs nothing to advertise for sale items, so it brings out many obscure and/or parts items which wouldn't be available otherwise.

The terrible thing about craigslist is it costs nothing to list junk at ridiculous prices and keep the listing running for months and years. This clogs the system and gives the next guy a false sense his junk is worth that also.

As an aside, craigslist user "flagging" no longer does anything to monitor and clean out the crap. We have retail businesses who clog up the "by owner" sections and no matter how often they are flagged, CL continues to allow them to post.

The bottom line - at least it's not as bad as Farcebook.

Same thing here. There is a local pawn shop that sometimes uses up 1/2 to 3/4 of a CL tool page selling their stuff in the by owner section. Drives me crazy.

For ads like that, you can insert a minus symbol and include some common word that shows up in the junk listing, and Craigslist will omit most of that from the results. For example:

"Atlas lathe -shed, steel, credit, lift".

The search above will omit any listing with the words after the minus sign. It doesn't get everything, but it drastically reduces the garbage.
