[How do I?] Balance Contact Wheels

QUOTE="JimDawson, post: 423308, member: 29628"]:+1: what Jim said[/QUOTE]
Hello there again, Mr Dawson
Thought that would be the correct way it is done. But the Diameter is proving a bit of a challenge to get or construct those two sharp-edged Rails You are talking about
However, could we not do that on the Lathe, say between two centres, for example ???
Do kindly let us know
TIA

Not quite as good as the rails, but if you can get it to turn freely enough it should work. Maybe two small round rods, 12mm to 16mm or so, would work for rails rather than the knife edges. You still get point contact that way.

Ok
Will think up a Jig to mount these round rods and give it a try
Am now confident it will work
Thanks a stack, once again
All the best

You could use a lawn mower blade balancer.

Sorry RJ
We don't have one of these here
And even if we did, regrettably we would not know how it would work to Balance our 14" wheel
Thanks all the same
Kind regards

Hello Good Folks
Okey dokey. We listened to U good Guys, thought over the problem, looked at our Options of buying one at over Six Grand plus (heck what's cheap now-a-days !!) and finally decided that seeing as we have some material which would require a little careful extra machining, we gave this a shot and came up with the pics below.
It don't look too bling bling, fancy wancy, laa-dee-daa !!!
However, I am pretty sure it will do the job, and suffice for our needs and more, and also that of our grand children, if we look after it.
Thanks again to each one of U kind Gentlemen, including Jim Dawson Esq, who is always ever ready to share his knowledge and tremendous expertise
We really appreciate the motivation. 2016-11-26 13.58.52.jpg 2016-11-26 14.01.03.jpg 2016-11-26 14.08.57.jpg 2016-11-26 14.10.06.jpg
