My old Delta drill press runs very fast even with it V-belted all the way down. A friend gave me this DC motor.
Please suggest a motor controller. It would be great to have slower and continuous speed control for large drills. I know about PWM motor speed control but I have no practical knowledge in this area.
The present motor is a one phase 1/2 hp 1725 RPM type with 1/2 inch shaft. The other issue will be reducing the 5/8 inch shaft on the Baldor to be compatible with the 1/2 inch V-belt pulleys. Any ideas for that would also be appreciated. I have a HF mini-lathe so I can make some kind of adapter. I don't think I can open up the pulley to 5/8ths. Maybe there are V pulleys available for 5/8th shafts.
Hope this question is in the proper thread.
Thanks and Best Regards,
Pete
