Hi gang,
I picked up a nice old Baldor carbide tool room grinder.
I fired it up. Quiet and pretty smooth.
Just for fun, I ran a pieces up against one wheel and noticed a vibration or run out.
These are very good quality wheels.
I measured the thickness of the separated part and the attached part.
I have .743” to .770” variance.
Please see the pics.
I found new diamond wheels on MSC but before I place the order, can these be corrected? Ground somehow?
Thanks.
Jeff

Come to think of it. The diamond dust is gone anyway. These are shot.
Of course you can’t dress them! I was thinking the diamond material went all the way through?
There is a copper ring the dust adheres to. It’s shines with no abrasive powder.
I got a deal on this unit, I’m paying now.

It looks like those might have been the cheap plated on type of wheel = short life. The wheels with 1/16 or 1/8 diamond depth last very much longer, that is what I have always used.

I don't normally endorse products, but if you're going to buy some diamond wheels, the imports that Shars sells are really good and a good price. Also, put a green grit wheel on one side so you can rough grind without loading the diamond.

I ordered a “green” wheel and a diamond from MSC.
$250 later.....
I’ll check out Shars too.
Thanks.
