Thanks guys for your suggestions! I like the idea of a removable "spacer" because I can put that into practice tonight! Something that prevents the material being dragged back though is probably one of the better solutions which I shall investigate as a long term fix.
The removable stop idea is great too - I like it but i wonder whether it may be a bit fiddly in practice but I must admit, I've not tried it before so maybe it's not.

Small Mods To My Hf 4x6 Bandsaw
Finished up some of the mods I planned on for the little 4x6. Since I have a frozen shoulder and severe arthritis this thing has been a real pain saver. Made a carriage to stabilize it. Then added a down-feed system. Also replaced the vise bolts with T and L handles. I got to try out the Repton...

That's a very nice installation - and surprisingly affordable. The other designs I'd seen over the years all tended to be as expensive as the saw itself. Cost was a major "selling point" for my design - $25-50, depending on some raw materials. Ken, thanks for the link. Royess, thanks for the write-up.
