I’ve been searching for an equivalent to sae20 oil for my craftsman atlas lathe and came across this at home depot.

It seems to be similar to a mobile DTE heavy medium circulating oil.

Do you think this is a good alternative which is locally available or should I just buy a gallon of the mobile DTE heavy medium?

You are over paying for the convenience of roughly a quart sized storage. You would be better off buying the gallon of Mobil. Do a quick math exercise and you will see what I mean.

Take a look at Tractor Supply if you have one close

About 6 months ago, Tractor Supply suddenly had gallons of SAE 20 ND on the shelf, and I bought one. But for the past three or four years, I have been using the Mobile DTE ISO 68 Heavy Medium Circulating Oil. When I've used the SAE 20, I'll either buy some more or if again unavailable buy more of the Mobile. But the oil that you found is probably also suitable.
