Got this in a recent purchase. Obviously a fly cutter but being pretty new to this I have not seen one like this, having a vertical tool holder slot. The only thing I can think of is that it is made to be used in a boring head as as boring bar. I'm pretty sure it's a machinist made tool no CO. name but stamped initials. Please school me about this:)IMG_0056.JPGIMG_0057.JPGIMG_0058.JPG

It's a dual angle fly cutter. That bein said, any fly cutter can be used
as a boring tool on it's own, or with a boring head....................................

Thanks for confirming my suspicions. It previously had not occurred to me that you could use one in a boring head it would certainly make a very robust boring bar. This particular one has a .75 shaft and would require a much larger head than I can use but I can probably use it as a fly cutter in a collet.
