Bought the wrong 3/4" lead screw assembly for my 12" craftsman - looking to trade

Hi All,
I've been trying to revive an old craftsman 12" lathe and picked up this lead screw assembly to replace a bent lead screw and a broken bearing on my project. I didn't pay close enough attention and purchased a 3/4" lead screw when I needed a 5/8". Just looking to salvage this purchase and swap for the correct part.

Thanks All,
Nw

Craftsman 12" Metal Lathe 3/4" Diameter Lead Screw 39 7/8" Long for a 42" Bed.
lead screw gear case with bushing bracket assembly for a Craftsman 12" lathe with 3/4" lead screw. Gear case is part number L3-27.
lead screw bearing with mounting bolts for an Atlas 10" or 12" or Craftsman 12" lathe with 3/4" lead screw. Bearing is part number 10F-16.

FYI, although the right bearing is the same, and the diameter and threads are the same, the 3/4" leadscrew that you have is an L5-35-5-42A. It will fit the 12x24 101.07403, 101.27430 and the 12x24 1/2" bed 12" machines made between 1957 and 1967. But it is 1-13/16" too short to fit a 10x24 10F which is 41" LOA..

On the other hand, you can use the 5/8" lead screw from any 12x24 Craftsman 12" from 101.07402 back to 101.07360. Plus with modifications (shortening the left end), one from any 10x24 10D or earlier.

Thank for adding the detailed info. Hopefully someone will come along with the parts I need that can actually use these parts.

You're welcome. The only downside to cutting off a longer lead screw to use on a shorter bed lathe is that if it's a 5/8" one, the threads will run out to the end so they don't fit into the left bearing assembly or into the FWD/REV gearbox as snugly.
