I'm having an awesome issue right now, I cant get the servos to connect to my Win7 laptop so I can calibrate them. The drivers won't install no matter what I do and Teknic support hasn't replied yet.....

Teknic just got back to me there is an installer for the drivers, it comes with the Clearpath MSP software.....

C:\Program Files (x86)\Teknic\ClearPath MSP\ClearPath Port Driver Install.exe

and nothing they told me to do works.....

Teknic responded again..... Told me to change settings on my computer that are already set that way, no progress whatsoever..... It almost seems like they don't want to send me the driver file so I can install them manually..... They are acting like it would be too much for me to handle on my own....

Going to see if they have a phone number.....

You're going to LOVE having the CNC when you are done. I used to chuck up on the lathe to bore out a hole like in your part, or peck away with a boring head on the mill. Now it's a simple CNC mill job.

And now I need to make a new tool for my Atlas Shaper to cut the internal keyways... I need to make the 3/16 keyway a little wider for the metric key...

I have decided to modify an ER32 collet chuck to make a tool holder for the shaper. I will hold Lathe boring bars with it to cut internal keyways...

I'm going to cut up one of these $20 er32 chucks from fleebay....

The Old 2hp Motor on my Burke horizontal just let the smoke out last night. Now I have to build a mount for a 5hp Motor that I got for $200 NOS I need to make a bushing for the pulley to fit the new motor shaft.... The madness never ends!!!

I'm almost done making the mount for this 184TC frame 5hp motor its all welded up just needs 8 holes drilled to get screwed down to the horizontal mill...

3/4" and 1/2" plate... TIG welded everything...

I have the Horizontal mill up and running again but OSHA would not be happy with the motor startup procedure..... lol.... I really need a VFD for this machine...

This machine's spindle bearings sound like they hate me.... They definitely need to be changed soon..... The spindle still runs true but the bearings make a ton of noise on start up, but after they warm up the noise stops.... Machine still gets the work done....

If anyone has the chance and space for a Burke or Powermatic Horizontal mill I highly recommend you buy it. It can do anything you can do with a bridgeport except its 100% more ridged

(Powermatic bought out Burke and made this same machine for a while)

I stuck a .625 gauge pin in the 5c spindex and used a 5/8" er32 collet in the holder to cut off the r8 arbor... Then I ground it down to 1" to fit the shaper...

I also Finally installed a new oiler on the surface grinder seen in this picture, but all the lines or caked shut and I need to blow them out or change them...

Do you guys have any ideas for cleaning the tiny copper oil lines? I would rather not have to replace them...

This was kinda scary at first but it was no problem at all...

A friend just gave me a set of these... I'm making a set of backing plates to weld these shackle brackets right to my doors... they are going to be 1/4" stainless steel with 3/8" 1045 pins welded in holes that match the shackle brackets and the plates will be inserted inside the sheet metal doors and the pins will be welded to the shackle brackets.... TIG welding everything....

That sucks about your van, what kind of tools did you loose?

I have a bunch of stuff in storage up here left over from closing my power equipment shop. If there's anything you need that I have I'll make you a heck of a deal.

Nice work on the conversion BTW:encourage:

Finally some progress on this project!

I had to make another bearing cap for the X axis on the side with hand wheel still, If I turned the screw from the servo side it would push out the bearing and thread the screw out of the yoke.... Now with the new cap installed I can move the X axis without any issues.....

I made one of these but from the only thing I could find in the shop big enough 4140 scrap steel I got for free.....(This is not a picture of the part I made, I forgot to take a picture.)

All the the red circles have these caps the yellow circle on my machine does not have this cap or holes to install one so I had to drill and tap 1/4-20 hole in the cast iron.....

I have the Z axis servo mounted and with the 5:1 gearbox it has move then enough toque to lift the very heavy Bridgeport knee.... I am trying to calibrate the servos with the MSP software but I am having some problems with it. I have called Teknic support and those guys are awesome, really great people to talk to.... He gave me some ideas that I needed for troubleshooting, I am going to try some more tonight.

WOOOHOOO!!!!!!

The Z axis and the X axis are now calibrated, I had to try 5 different USB cables but I finally got it to work..... Now I need to make parts for the Y axis, run auto-tune on it and then calibrate the Masso controller, and make some mounts for npn stop switches.....

I'm getting really close to being able to run g-code on my 1960 J-Head lol.....

I am having a ton of fun with the Y axis, I need to make a spacer for the lead screw so it stops threading into the yoke and pushes the table instead....

Here is my solution for the Y axis issues.....

This is my lovejoy coupler pressed into a piece of aluminum with an 1/8" keyway on the other side, next is a steel spacer and then an 863 Bronze thrust washer....
20190817_125130.jpg20190817_125147.jpg

Bronze washer goes against the bearing
20190817_125204.jpg

And then the spacer

and the lovejoy on the end...

The Y axis servo is mounted and auto-tune is running.....

Edit:

This is by far the most frustrating part of this whole build....

Finally got the Y axis to finish auto-tune!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to go to walmart and buy the most expensive USB-A to USB-Mirco cable on the shelf $17 but it got the job done......

No longer need this laptop in my way.....

Working on the wiring and the NPN stops now.....

I'm hoping to be running g-code without a tool in the spindle by the midnight.....
