Broken Hearted... My new to me 1942 VN No.12 Spindle Ring and Pinion shot

I’m glad you are having success. I have found that these little mills have become rather uncommon and that is a shame. They are very cool pieces of machinery. Here’s to the long and winding roads.

Persistent application of your passion will solve most any problem. I'm excited for the day you make chips again. painful yet pretty cool to an outside observer.

Yep, I am with the above two posts.

You are saving a wonderful machine. I hope everything goes very well.
But even if it does not, it is very much worth another attempt.
The money you invest in the fix will pale in comparison to the usefulness of the machine!

Please give a shout here if you're having difficulties, we very much want you to succeed.

Have you guys seen where Keith Rucker had custom bevel gears made for his planer by a specialist company in Milwaukee (I believe). Not sure if they cut spiral bevel gears but I would think they do. Interesting and hopefully the O.P. Won't need that recourse.
