I bought this surface grinder in December.
I was unable to pick it up because I had no place to put it and the ground outside the shop where it was stored was too wet to support a forklift.
I can’t wait to get acquainted.

Love those Micromasters.
Does yours have the o-ring drive from motor to spindle?

Yes, the o rings were replaced not too long ago.
My plan is to take off the table, check out the metering system, clean or replace as needed, change the oil with Vaculine 1405 and fire her up.
The previous owner said it has clean oil in it but it’s too thick, he got the wrong hydraulic oil.
When we tried it out before I bought it, the only thing I noticed was the pump was pretty loud. As the oil warmed up it got quieter. The table movement under power worked fine.
Seems like I got a good one.
Never used in a production environment.

There is way too much bare floor in your shop, but likely time will cure that! Did you get a coolant tank and pump with it? I assume that all the handles were removed for moving? David Bassing and I just lately replaced the o ring drive belts on mine, all but one was cracked and fell off, with the last one just ready to do likewise. I see that one coolant guard is missing, it pivots on the empty hole on the LH guard and extends the length to the right. It looks to be a nice, quite clean machine! Oh, also, I have an extra oil filter element for you.

John,
Please see today’s pics. Yes panel removed.
Handles installed. I looked inside at the v way and flats.
I am one lucky son of a gun. Beautiful ways!! Oily and no scoring or signs of metal to metal contact.
Ordered Vaculine 1405 per label.
Regarding too much clean space, I have my compressor, welding cart and horizontal band saw out of the way.
I would really like your filter. I’ll be at the meeting next week.
Thank you!

Looking very nice! Looks about the same age as mine, they did make changes over the years, particularly with the table trip dogs and reversing mechanism. Did it come with the coolant tank and pump?

Unfortunately no,
You see the coolant feed with a swivel but nothing beyond that.
It wouldn’t take much to rig up a reservoir and pump. I see where it all drains in the back.
Heck of a sweet design.
John, this SG is in great shape!

Jeff , I left the one off my 618 down at the place my buddy worked . It was still filled with rancid coolant and stuck like dumpster full of old crab shells . I have plenty of pumps on hand and was planning on rigging up a resorvior (sp) when I get ready to set it up .
