Hi all,
Just purchased a Burke #4 horizontal mill. The serial number is 400. It needs some work but could be a fun project to get running and to use.

First order of operations is to redo the wiring as all the insulation is old and brittle and falling off. The motor is a 1/2 HP Master gearhead motor. 110V single phase. There are 4 wires coming from within the motor ( no color or number) that have been brought to a double pole double throw toggle switch. The tag on the motor says that it is "Elec Rev" which I am assuming means that it can be made to be reversible. Does anyone have experience with this type motor and can give advice on how to properly wire it? I am thinking I would use a drum switch. Will have to open the motor housing to be able to run new wires so that could be a real learning adventure.

Thanks,
David

Try to preserve the identity of the wires if you can (masking tape labels) if the switch is still connected; may save time later when you
do the final hook-up with a new drum switch

It is a reversible motor, and they came with a drum switch originally.
