Buying Used Electric Motors A Bargain?

I have had nothing but good luck on every eBay 3-phase bargain motor I have purchased, all running like new (with VFD) many years after purchase. Only one was inverter rated, all run cool as a cucumber even at low speeds. Same thing with used name brand VFDs all perfect, why pay $500 when you can pay $50?

In my experience, 3 phase motors have extremely long service lives, single phase motors- not so much .
IMO, buying used single phase motors is at best a 50/50 bet. If you can get them cheap, no foul if they end up not serviceable.
Sometimes you can combine 2 faulty motors into one serviceable motor.
