Can this be a 0-1/2" chuck?

I'm looking at a Jacobs chuck that comes in a Jacobs box that says 0-1/2" capacity. But the jaws look like this. How could that be 0"? I need at least 1/16 or smaller. Thanks,

That doesn't look like 0 to me.

This is a 14N that says 0-1/2" but still not truly 0, close enough though. I don't like to use 1/2' chucks to hold tiny drill bits anyway.

This would be more like 0.

Do you have the chuck in your posession? Take a look at the jaws. It could have recessed jaw faces like my cordless drill & larger drill chucks. But again I don't like to hold tiny drills with these types of jaws either.

Thanks! No i don't have it in my possession. I see this model also advertised as 5/64-1/2 but given the chuck body is stamped "0" i suppose it likely is.

It could have replacement Jaws from being rebuilt at one time.

I guess while were on it, what is a good chuck for holding round shank bits? Occasionally I have a bit slip in my chuck(s), I have even needed to take down a small pimple it left on one of my brands new Norseman cobalt bits. Seems like all my chucks work better on the 1/4" octagon shanks, nothing I have holds the round ones.

Get a small chuck for holding your small bits, put a 1/2" straight shank on it, put it in your large chuck when drilling small holes.
