Can anyone ID these inserts? I’ve got probably 12# of these, some new, some used only on one edge. They were in a package deal, seem to be usable and I hate to sell them for scrap.

They do look a bit like these, on this milling cutter that I bought on eBay. It is fitted to INT 40 taper with 5/8 BSW thread.

I have not tried using it, and as I have now replaced my Archdale milling machine with an old Bridgeport, it looks as this is destined to go back on eBay!

If I am totally incorrect in thoughts I apologise now, I am fairly new to hobby machining and still trying to get my head around the different types and sizes of inserts. I find it very confusing.

That looks like a very big cutter. I have a 7/8 insert end mill that takes APKT carbide.
It has a 3/4" shank.
You might look for something like that on ebay.
Mine takes 3 inserts.

There was an insert cutter in the lot, at first I thought I hit the lotto,,,,, then I realized the cutter takes smaller inserts than what were in the bag.
I’ll have to look for some tooling that needs those inserts, in the meanwhile,,,,, if anyone wants to trade an extra holder for some inserts I’m game.

you need to measure the inserts and compare it to the guide on Carbide Depot, but there are a ton of cheap cutters out there for these inserts. Typically face mills (BAP400R?) and inserted endmills.

Thank you Matt for the information on the 'Carbide Depot' I have just had a quick look, it should prove to be useful in my understanding of insets..
