How in the world is a person supposed muddle his way through all of the carbide inserts?????

Is there a chart or web site that compares inserts to other inserts that will work.

I have a shell mill that uses PK25-048 inserts.

I want to get a smaller shell mill and it takes SEAN42AFTN Tin inserts.

These inserts look the same to me.

Will the PK25-048 work for the SEAN42AFTN ?

How do know????

Thank you,
Dale

SE inserts are square positive inserts most commonly used in 45° face mills. I've never heard of PK25 inserts though, that is not a standard designation for insert shape & size.

darkzero, that may be because I input the wrong number.
ZP25-048

That's not any better. :D

Still doesn't sound anything like an insert designation. ZP25 sounds more like a manufacturer's grade for carbide.

Got a link to your FM?

OK...
My mistake.
My shell mill uses SEAN42AFTN inserts.
The company I bought sent Zp25 Inserts. So, they must be the same.

Thanks Darkzero.

Hey Will, while we're on the subject, I have a six position 4" face mill that has .500 positive rake square, flat face inserts that are gold, and worn. Replacement? Curtis has not responded as yet...

Do they look like this?

YEP, smaller in my hand though....

Yes, that's more accurate, application numbers, or one size fits all?
