New to us, a Clausing 5914, one of the earlier years. We are going through it from stem to stern, now working on the belt drive. The ribbed belts on the variable speed drive seem worn out- flabby, a few strings on edge etc., vibrates a bit. The Clausing recommended OEM parts are 1930V400 belt for the v belt and a 630H150 timing belt. No problem sourcing the timing belt, but reading in several forums including this one indicate that the sheave degree angle should be 22 degrees not thirty as recommended by Clausing. So first question: does this really make a difference? I can't find either on commercial sites, and Clausing sells the 30 degree only. Second question: there is a 22 degree belt available from Gates and others, but it has a 403 length vs the quoted 400 length (cm I presume) Is there enough adjustment on the motor to accommodate this difference? Which compromise is better?
