Hi guys, I'm hoping to reassemble my 5914 headstock this weekend but have a question about the direction that the bearing retainer clip should be facing. The clip is cupped and I'm not sure if the cupping should be towards the bearing cover or away from it.

Please see the video below. If you have any idea which direction this should be facing please let me know.

i have not done the job,
but i'd put the cut out, on the side of easy removal-
i doubt the factory assembled it the hard way.

I know this is an old question but from looking at your cover... There's a wear pattern which corresponds to the full width of the clip. That would mean that the cupped side has been making contact with the cover. If it were the other way, then the wear pattern wouldn't be the full width of that clip.
