Clausing 8520 head/quill question

This is essentially what I did. Where you tig’d I just pinned. Easy deal really. I only had to repair one of the compound gears.
Not having any gears at all is going to be more involved but still doable.
Yeah, absolutely nothing wrong with pinning it at all. I was somewhat looking for an excuse to TIG braze something because my recent TIG focus has been on doing smaller, more delicate stuff, so this was a good fit. I'm such a nerd I spent a day going back and forth between using silicon bronze and aluminum bronze filler wire...lol.

After doing one gear I wouldn't hesitate to do a whole set if necessary...like you said, very doable.

H3248 Steel Spur Gear is the 48T, 32DP gear with a roughly 7/8" hub and 3/8" bore.
H2412 Steel Spur Gear is the 12T, 24DP gear with a 3/8" hub and a 1/4" bore.

I used small hold downs to secure the 48T gear to the table on my mill and there was enough of a gap between the tip of the hold downs and the hub that I could mill off the hub pretty easily.
