Collet Fit Question

I first asked this question in the Bridgeport forum, but in retrospect here probably would have better. How "good" is a collet fit supposed to be? Pictures are here: https://www.hobby-machinist.com/threads/collet-fit-in-a-m-head.80042/ am I being OCD? I'm trying to chase down .004 4" down. The quill appears to have
.0003 run out. Am trying to figure out what tolerance I can reasonably hold so I don't bang my head on the wall over something unachievable.
