I have seen three different mods for easing compound slide angle adjustments on a mini lathe. One... is drilling and tapping for a set screw to lock the rotating disc in place, which requires thinning the lip on the disc so it is ever so slightly above the surface of the cross slide. Two... is making a whole new disc with a dovetail pin for the slide to pivot on which is locked in place with two set crews. Three... is drilling two access holes in the top of the compound slide to access the original locking bolts. I am leaning towards #3, as it seems the easiest and most ridgid setup. I would of coarse plug the holes between adjustments with a piece of foam earplug. Are there any better methods that someone has used or seen used?
