Correct taper name ?

This is an old Enco boring head with a 40 taper I believe . Is this called an MT 40 or what ? I can't remember !

There's no picture, but maybe a CAT40? MT means Morse Taper usually...

Hi Dave,

A 40 taper is a non locking taper ! A Morse taper is the opposite, a locking taper.
You are probably referring to a NMTB 40 quick change taper.

Could be an NMTB 40 or Cat 40 And I think there is another that I can't remember.

This is it . The mind is always second to go ! Yes , this mill had a draw bar type system , 30 years ago ! Not new , no retention knobs or such .

Correction: I think that is an NMTB 30, looks too small for a 40
