Cutting threads on a micro-lathe?

Addendum, if you're interested. There are several screw sizes and threads; machine screws being the most common in what I do. There are also fractional sizes(stove bolts) and wire sizes.

For machine screw sizes, start at 0.060 in. Size 0, that's a zero, not an "oh". Nominal thread is 80 TPI. Add, or subtract, 0.013 in per size. I posted a size chart a while back. It may still be accessible. As to the adder factor, .013", each size is .013" larger or smaller. Such as 2-56. Nr 2 is .060+(2x.013), being 0.086". Nr 4 is .060+(4x.013) or .060+.052 or 0.112". Nr 2/0 being .060-.013 or .047".

In electrical work, 6-32 is quite common. I use a die with the work in a vise for something this simple. Where the lathe comes in is in more exacting work.
