Cutting tool choice

How long is the shaft? It looks long. If too much is sticking out beyond the chuck I wouldn't try parting it without a steady rest. A cut off disk might be safer.

I just looked closer at the diameters involved. Just go get a tubing cutter for cutting copper plumbing or even brake lines.

You know the jobber that looks like a c clamp with a v shaped wheel and a couple of rollers to back up the tube.
