Dalton lathe

In process of restoring my lot 4 Dalton.on the pulley for locking,unlocking for back gear use it has one pin held in wire spring type wire.seems to work ok.across from pin is a broken boss.did Dalton use two pins instead of one like most other lathes?? Thanks..

I'd guess that the large boss was a counter balance for the smaller boss plus the knob/plunger, and they later used the larger boss after having breakage problems with the smaller boss.
