Dial Indicator purchased on eBay is Damaged

I have always wanted a dial indicator with .0001” graduations. I looked around eBay for another 2 hours, and this one looks like it should be OK.

Way too expensive. I'm with Mikey, not sure why you are looking at all these ancient indicators, unless you just like that sort of thing. I paid $40 for my Mitu .0001 dial indicator which I never use. Most of my Mitu dial indicators I got for $30-$60 & all were in like new condition.

The only other thing that I would possibly need is a .0001” dial test indicator, but I have a .Shars 0005” DTI so that will be fine.

The last 4 years, I have been aggressively buying machines & tooling. I just stopped working Saturdays, so now I will have plenty of time to futz around in the garage.

@JRaut Is that quote from this thread? I spent 4 hours looking for 2 dial indicators. I bought two quality indicators for $120.

I didn’t mean for my reply to come off snarky. Half of what I do in my shop is think about what else I need to make or buy to move my current project along.

Oh, I get it now. You are equating “futzing around in the garage” with “figuring out what else I need to buy”.

As much as I find it therapeutic to buy tools, I think there’s very little else that I can justify purchasing other than materials (e.g. my favorite, steel round bar).
