Planning on picking up a mill tomorrow and hauling it home . The mill has a DRO with a severed cable . Can these be spliced or replaced with a generic cable ? I know it's an older DRO and not sure what brand off hand .

If it's a digital signal, like = +5V and ground, then yes, you can splice them. If it's much older and a sine wave output, probably you can. Even with a 1um DRO, the rate of the signals isn't that fast. For an experiment I was doing, I got 1 DRO edge about every 220 microseconds. 400 RPM lathe at 0.1mm/rev. I'd try splicing the wires. It will probably work fine. If it doesn't, then come back and ask more questions.Planning on picking up a mill tomorrow and hauling it home . The mill has a DRO with a severed cable . Hey Thanks Wobbly , I thought I spliced one years back and it worked fine although I think it was an Accurite2 . How's the daughter making out ? Everything good I hope .If it's a digital signal, like = +5V and ground, then yes, you can splice them. If it's much older and a sine wave output, probably you can.
