DRO on a 1340GT?

If you set it up for two axes, they will be named x and y. Plugging into the Z axis socket only causes the encoder to be ignored.
I suppose I could pretend that there are 3 axes and only plug in two of them, but that would be 'squirrely'er than what I've got.

It depends on the model, I had an Easson 12 and the X axis was the diameter, the long axis was Y (it had no Z axis input). The R/D only worked on the X axis. The Easson 12B/C you can configure the screen to show y=Z0 and Z-Z1. I am installing one currently on my lathe and will configure it as such, the 3rd axis is the tailstock.

Got it, thanks.
Though, I had only the X & Y installed on my mill for about a year before I got around to installing the Z, it worked fine, not squirrelly at all.
