Above the quill I have a plastic sleeve that inhibits the ram from going all the way to the top . WTH is it ? I can't find it on any diagrams . TIA . :)

It's probably a damnit. Those usually go in first, before the other parts. You finally get it all back together, then notice it still on the workbench, and say, "Damnit!"

I think somebody dropped this plastic sleeve in as a joke  Looks like a spindle liner or something to keep chips out maybe , but I can't find it on any diagrams. :dunno: Down the paper plant we always added some parts on one guys job while he had something torn apart .

Father-in-law would do that to me when I was working in a car. He would place a nut or a bolt next to the ones I had on the tray, and I would spend time trying to figure out where the heck I left it out… glad he got a good laugh from doing this.

The only thing that I can see that this " sleeve " may be is the spindle dirt shield #134 in their parts book . I'm thinking it popped up out of the diameter with the spindle . Whatcha think ? Dead weight ? I could easily cover the entire opening of what they're protecting .
