I cannot move the heads up or down on my drill press mill. Any help you can provide. Loosened the bolts but turning crank does not move head. I see track trying to move. But head stuck. I know i am missing something.
There is a worm shaft the handle attaches to. This drives a gear that engages the rack. It might be that either of these is broken.
I would use a small jack, put it on the table and use it to raise the head. Just take some of the weight of the head off and then remove the handle. The lift mechanism is behind the plate under the handle so get that out and take a look. Leave the jack in place until you resolve the binding issue.
Thank you Mickey. I have not been able to figure this one out. I looked for an instructional manual with no luck.
I will give this a try to see what is going on back there.
for normal operations, which of the bolts are used to "lock" the head in place?
