I understand and can see why an end-mill can't drill holes, but it seems to me that for milling edges or slots, there is no difference between the use of an end mill or a slotting drill.
I'm wondering why I shouldn't generally buy slotting drills to cover both purposes in just one tool.
The only practical difference I see is that slotting drills would be slightly more diffcult to re-sharpen correctly.
Am I missing something?
Cheers,
Joe
