I've been using my Myford Super 7 in various incarnations for around 20 years, 15 of those with the 3 phase motor controlled by the buttons on the front of the VFD.
The spur to finally pull the parts out of the drawer and build my control box came this week when I needed to make a batch of parts requiring frequent stops and starts with swapping between two set speeds, a low speed for a 51mm long OD reduction from 7mm down to 3.2 in one pass with a Roller Box and a higher speed for turning of shorter sections close to the chuck.
All I need to do now is add the spindle nose tachometer, a run disable switch on the spindle lock and an optional start stop switch with actuating cam on the clutch lever.
This is the box as it is now, I suspect it's a bit of a work in progress!

Here's the proof that I actually labelled the wires on the back of the sockets with their corresponding VFD terminal number ;-)

How did we manage before Brother came out with the p-touch system?

I assume that's what you used to mark the wires.
