Hello everyone! I just joined and I also just bought a used lathe. I knew nothing about it till I got the thing home, and Im still not completely sure if it is allfrom the same lathe, or if just the lantern tool post is from an atlas. The, motor mount is obviously not original. I know at Barnes had a few benchtop models that I noticed they advertised, but definitely not the norm apparently. It is a 4.5 also. Found it on Craigslist adbertised as an atlas from 1942, I think there was a misunderstanding. I am impressed so far, but hoping someone could help identify original parts from add ons, like maybe the drivetrain door for example, my best guess is sb, but I might be wrong. Also, if anyone could help with how to find some of the gears, it would be very appeeciated. I believe the diametrical pitch is 16 it already has a few replacement gears from Boston on it right now, I am not to worried about original, just fully functional. Here is the list of gears that the 4.5 barnes lathe came with from information I have gathered, but Im not sure will fit inside the panel currently on mine. I'm not sure, but I believe the forward and reverse lever is attached to the banjo and mine is cut but that's only speculation from what I can see.

No dials either and from a small rudimentary test its almost 1 inch per rev on the leadscrew, Is the correct? And is a qick change gear box possible for this lathe maybe by changing all gears over to southbend and get a gear box? Or is it way more complicated than that?
Thanks,
Michael
